About Us

Princeton Psychotherapy Center is a group psychotherapy practice in Princeton, New Jersey founded on the belief that finding a therapist who is a genuinely good fit for you should be less difficult than it often is. We have carefully assembled a team of expert clinicians with varied specialties, clinical approaches, and interpersonal styles so that more people can find the right fit without having to search across multiple practices.

We have intentionally included this diversity in our practice because we don't believe any single therapeutic approach works for everyone. People need different things — different methods, styles, and kinds of therapeutic relationships. Our clinicians draw from psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and integrative methods, each bringing their own clinical perspective to their work. What unites us is not a single method, but a shared commitment to doing this work with seriousness, rigor, and genuine care.

Our Clinicians

Our clinicians bring advanced training from leading institutions — including Yale, Columbia, and Rutgers — and more than a decade of post-graduate clinical experience each. They remain actively engaged in continuing education, consultation, and professional development throughout their careers. They also consult regularly with one another, bringing different areas of expertise and perspectives to complex clinical questions in ways that benefit every patient we work with.

We believe good clinical work requires technical skill, careful listening, sound judgment, and genuine attention to the complexity of each person. Our clinicians take that seriously.

The Therapeutic Relationship

We believe the relationship between patient and therapist is one of the most important elements of effective therapy, and there is robust research to support that idea. Our clinicians aim to create a space where patients can speak openly, feel genuinely heard, and explore difficult experiences without judgment.

That same care extends to every aspect of a patient's experience with our practice — from the first point of contact through the duration of the time you work with us. We respond promptly to inquiries and questions, strive to communicate clearly, and hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism.

Finding the Right Fit

Finding the right therapist matters — not just in terms of expertise and approach, but in terms of the more intangible sense that this is someone you can open up to, feel comfortable with, and trust. We take care at the outset to understand what is bringing someone to treatment and to make a thoughtful match — one that takes into account not just clinical considerations, but the kind of connection that makes therapy possible in the first place.

When someone's needs would be better met elsewhere, we believe it is equally important to recognize that and help guide them in the right direction.

FAQs

What makes Princeton Psychotherapy Center different from other therapy practices?

We are a group practice built around a community of clinicians — each with their own areas of expertise, therapeutic orientation, and clinical strengths. Rather than offering a single approach to everyone, we match patients thoughtfully to the clinician best suited to their specific needs, concerns, and preferences.

How do you match patients with the right therapist?

When you reach out, we take time to understand what is bringing you to treatment and what you are looking for in a therapist. We consider clinical fit (the right expertise and approach for your specific concerns) as well as interpersonal style. You are welcome to browse our therapist profiles and choose someone yourself, or reach out for a consultation so that we can guide you. Either way, we take the match seriously.

What therapeutic approaches do you offer?

Our clinicians draw from a range of evidence-supported approaches including psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and integrative methods. The approach depends on the patient, the nature of their concerns, and what is most likely to be helpful for them specifically.

Do you offer in-person and virtual therapy?

Yes. We offer in-person sessions at our Princeton, NJ office and virtual therapy across New Jersey and New York.

How do I get started?

You can reach out by text, email, or through the contact form on our website to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. We respond promptly and will help you figure out your next step.
